CARPE DIEM 1 is a 60ft professionally built timber cruiser with twin screw propulsion. The interior features elegant teak wood and is meticulously maintained to ensure top condition at all times. Designed for surf charters around the Mentawai Islands, this yacht combines comfort, safety, and optimal performance for adventures in the Indian Ocean.
Perfect for small groups seeking exclusive access to remote waves and a flexible, high-quality surfing experience. The boat travels North to South (or vice versa) with no fixed itinerary, stopping at world-class surf breaks according to daily conditions — approximately 50 surf spots including 10 world-class waves are within reach.
The onboard surf guide is an experienced local surfer who introduces the crew, explains safety rules, and plans surf routes daily according to forecasts for the best possible waves. Fishing gear and snorkeling masks are included free of charge, and the tender boats are available for surf transfers or fishing excursions on request.
Food onboard includes breakfast and two main meals daily — Beef, Lamb, Chicken, Fish, Prawns, and Squid — with vegetarian meals available on request. Drinks include soft drinks, boxed juices, water, tea & coffee, plus 12 cartons of Bintang beer. Additional beer is available on request.

Important Notes
- •Safety: All guests must follow safety instructions onboard at all times. Comprehensive travel insurance covering evacuation and hospitalization is MANDATORY.
- •Medical: Guests should bring personal medications, antibiotics, anti-fever and anti-nausea medicines, and first aid supplies. In serious injury cases, the captain may end the trip early to return to Padang for treatment.
- •Weather — Dry Season (April – September): Best surf conditions, favorable winds, long periods of light or no wind. Wet Season (October – March): Frequent showers, cooler temperatures, less frequent swell but still consistent in Mentawai & North Sumatra.
- •Surf Route: The boat travels North to South (or vice versa) with no fixed itinerary, stopping at world-class surf breaks according to daily conditions. Surf availability cannot be guaranteed due to weather variability.
- •Communication: Starlink satellite internet is onboard. Limited phone signal on some islands — local SIM card recommended.
- •Recommended gear to bring: surf boots, helmet, UV rash shirt, waterproof sunscreen, wax, extra fins, leashes, and backup boards. Water temperature ~26°C.
- •To hold a reservation, pay 20% deposit in advance. Final payment (80%) must be made before departure. The 20% deposit is non-refundable on cancellation.
Mentawai Surfer Tax
Commencing August 1, 2016, the Mentawai Regional Government imposed a Surfer's Levy in accordance with Regional Regulation No. 2 Year 2015: 2,000,000 IDR for up to 15 days. Payment is made directly at Nagari Bank (Deposit Slip Model A). Purchase surfing tickets and bracelets at the Tourism Information Center (TIC), Jln Padang Azizi No. 121 Andalas, Padang, or at the Tourism Office in Tuapejat.
